A report in yesterday's Morning Star again raised allegations about the possible assassination of David Kelly, the British MoD employee who leaked a critical report on preparations for an invasion against Iraq in 2003. The article discusses a report from 13 doctors who insist that the inquiry chaired by Blair's mate Lord Hutton was wrong in insisting that Kelly killed himself by cutting his wrist after ODing on sleeping pills.
One of the doctors pushing for a proper inquiry, David Halpin, stated that "[s]uch a cut to the ulnar artery, which is small and difficult to access, could not have caused death. The bleeding from Dr Kelly's wrist is unlikely to have been so voluminous and rapid that it was the cause of death ... There is evidence of a cover-up and I think it is highly likely that Dr Kelly was assassinated".
I know how we can put this to matter to rest once and for all. Science is the answer! See, all we need to do is put Lord Hutton and Tony Blair in a controlled laboratory environment and subject them to the same actions that allegedly caused David Kelly's death. Pump them full of sleeping pills and then have them cut their ulnar artery. If neither of them dies, there will be solid grounds for calling for a proper coronial inquiry. If both of them die, then we will know that Kelly quite possibly did kill himself and Blair and Hutton will die with their honour intact. If one dies and the other lives we will probably need to repeat the experiment a third time on Gordon Brown.
